VILA (Virtual Inclusive Learning Academy) is the online campus of Developing and Nurturing Independence (DANI), an organization that for over 15 years has been providing person-centred educational and vocational programs and training to adults with developmental disabilities. VILA participants will benefit from an online platform that provides life skills and academic support for job training and work opportunities. These individuals typically face systemic barriers, both economically and socially, and this virtual hub offers a comprehensive and robust venue to create opportunities for them.

The Technology Coordinator provides technical support for the management of DANI VILA’s  learning management system (LMS) , using the Tovuti platform. This individual is responsible for supporting the development, launch,  implementation, delivery, and maintenance of the LMS, including content, assets, and other resources used for instructional functions. The position is also responsible for developing strong relationships with DANI VILA’s clients to provide exceptional client technical support to learners with diverse needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Development and design of the DANI VILA LMS on the Tovuti platform.
      • Configures the LMS branding look & feel using Tovuti.
      • Create, configure, and organize the layout of platform pages based on client requirements.
      • Cofigures Tovuti platform to be a simple, clean and accessible platform for learning, with a strong understanding of client’s needs and abilities.
      • Create and manage user groups based on user profile information.
      • Manages course publishing, archiving, enrollment, progress tracking, and course properties.
  • Training and supporting instructors as they use the DANI VILA LMS
      • Helping to set up courses, upload content, leverage video conferencing platforms, and communicate with families and users through the platform
      • Support and guidance for instructors on system best practices and troubleshoot e-learning issues from design to upload and successful execution in the LMS.
      • Develop training reports for the DANI VILA administration team.
      • Partner and maintain strong interaction with community partners and other team members to create, review and revise materials, valuing others’ input, expertise, and diversity.
  • Technical support for clients
      • Provide day-to-day support to all users of the DANI VILA program (LMS application, e-learning, client records and other areas as requested).
      • Troubleshooting LMS software technical issues.
  • Ongoing LMS maintenance and management
      • Generates standard and custom reports; analyzes the data and communicates results across the team.
      • Contributes to writing and maintaining technical procedures and policy documentation.
      • Reviews and monitors system performance.

Skills & Experience:

  • Post Secondary Education
  • Experience in supporting special populations is preferred.
  • A certificate or diploma in e-learning design and development is an asset. 
  • Advanced computer skills including Google Drive, Zoom. database programs, etc.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), experience with Tovuti is an asset.
  • Ability to gain new technical skills quickly.
  • Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Detail oriented and high accuracy required.
  • Well developed multi-tasking skills and attention to detail required.
  • Some graphic design skills are an asset.
  • Possess strong customer service focus with experience in managing relationships with internal teams and external clients; responsive attitude.
  • Flexible in responding to changing priorities and learning new processes/procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate with others at all levels of the organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex technical concepts to users without a technological background.
